Annual Meeting
The ACC Symposium is held every November at a specially selected museum.
Among the many benefits of attending this annual meeting, the conference
presents participants with (1) the opportunity to hear lectures from ceramic
specialists and (2) the chance to meet other individuals with whom they can
share and exchange their knowledge and research findings about porcelain and
pottery. Attending the Symposium also offers the opportunity for
limited numbers of ACC members to participate in pre- and post-symposium
trips to private collections and local sites of interest.
The Seattle Art Museum hosted the 2007 ACC Symposium, November 1-4, 2007, Seattle, Washington. To learn more about that Symposium and the conference venue, click the link below.
The annual meeting has been held at a variety of noteworthy institutions. Select the following link to view photos taken at recent conferences and to peruse a list of past Symposium locations. The November 2008 and 2009 Symposia will be held in Baltimore and Williamsburg respectively. More information about those events will be posted as the dates approach.
Periodic day trips provide ACC members with intimate tours of museum exhibits and private collections.
January 2007 ~ Private tour of the Brooklyn Museum of Art's American Ceramic Collection by curator Barry Harwood. The museum tour was followed by a visit to the private collection of an ACC member in Manhattan.
May 2006 ~ Special tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibit The Taste for Opulence: Sevres Porcelain from the Collection by curator Jeffery Munger.
January 2006 ~ Private tour of the Hispanic Society of America's ceramic collections by curator Margaret Conners McQuade and director Mitchell Codding. A cocktail reception at the home of an ACC member concluded the day's activities.
